Over the past sixty years the Notts
& Derbys Cat Club has been fortunate to receive many donations of
trophies, generally in memory of beloved cats, whether they were successful on
the Showbench or were simply favourite pets. As a result, we have more than 160
trophies allocated to specific breeds and colours, which are ready to be awarded
to individual Open Class winners at our Annual Championship Show. These
trophies are the responsibility of our Cup Secretary, Katie Hewitt, whose task
each year is to ensure that the allocated trophies are clean and available for
each Class in which we have a member's cat entered. This means ensuring
that trophies won at the previous year's Show are returned in a clean state no
later than the date of the current Show, in order to avoid a new winner being
disappointed. If the current holder of a trophy is not due to attend the
next Show, they must return their trophy at least seven days before Show day.
Happily, in 95 per cent of cases this does happen.
Members may not be aware that the GCCF have recently
introduced a procedure to assist Cup Secretaries, which provides for official
disciplinary action against anyone who persistently fails to return trophies
after reasonable requests to do so.
A thorough review of all the Club trophies has been
carried out recently and we are now able to publish the full list as follows
