SHOW SUPPORT

The Club provides additional interest for members by sponsoring Club Classes at as many Shows as possible, and by awarding special trophies to members' cats when they are made up to Champion or Grand Champion. We have also recently introduced additional mementos for owners of cats which attain the accolade of Imperial Grand Champion or Imperial Grand Premier  Members should write to our Show Support Secretary, Peter Chaffe, if any of their cats qualify for any of these awards.  Please enclose a large SAE for return of the award.   Peter's address is 19 Fairview Avenue, Underwood, Nottingham, NG16 5GD and his telephone number is 01773 763337.

We also award special trophies to the winners of the 23 Notts & Derbys Club Classes at our own Championship Show.  These trophies are for the lucky winners to keep in perpetuity as a permanent reminder of their cat's achievement.   Examples of these trophies which were awarded at recent NDCC Shows are shown below.

We have also  run a decorated pen competition at the GCCF Supreme Show for NDCC members in which there are three categories of decoration.
A winner and runner-up is normally selected in each category.  The three winners are then judged against each other and the overall winner in awarded the Shangari Trophy, which is held for one year until the next Supreme Show.

Dawn Dodds organised a Best Decorated Pen Competition at the Supreme Show last November.  We apologise for the delay in publishing her report, but here it is - better late than never.

Supreme Show 17 November 2007

This year at the Supreme show, I had the wonderful (but difficult) task of judging the best dressed pen for our Notts & Derby members.  In all we had 12 entries, all of high quality. Putting together these lovely exhibition pens takes a lot of thought and effort and it certainly shone through and I would like to thank everyone who entered.

All the entrants received a special rosette and then the difficult task for me was to narrow my winners down to just three!

After a lot of deliberation (people must have wondered why I looked so bewildered!) my winner was pen number 119 who was decorated with Felix the Cat, the original black and white cartoon character.  I thought it was just super and much attention to detail went into this; many congratulations!

One of my runners up was equally wonderful – pen number 822.  Although not a football fan I really liked the decoration.  I simply loved this pen as again much effort and hard work went into this.

My other runner up was pen 559 – this was themed Bob the Builder, it was so colourful and attractive I thought it was excellent!  My sincere apologies as there is no photograph, as I could not find the owner of this wonderful pen (and of course kitten) - but I did not want to breach rules or upset the exhibit by taking a photograph without permission.   Please forgive me!

Until next November when the fun starts all over again, best wishes to all NDCC members.
